Grantee Feature: Metropolitan Chicago Breast Cancer Task Force

In 2015, the Task Force was able to accomplish several goals, including:

  • Educated over 10,000 women;
  • Navigated over 1,000 women; and
  • Confirmed over 400 women received screenings.

“Komen has been a great partner, working us to understand disparities and doing advocacy work; we wouldn’t be able to do all of this without their support.”

As part of its newly-revised mission, the Metropolitan Chicago Breast Cancer Task Force is working to address disparities on multiple levels. As Teena explained, “In order to focus on quality improvement and assessment of barriers to healthcare, we have expanded our scope beyond breast-specific care; we now are studying things like insurance barriers for women, so we can help educate and navigate them through the healthcare system.” For more information, go to www.chicagobreastcancer.org.
