Komen Ambassadors & Key2Life

Pink Ambassador
Share our mission and increase breast health awareness and knowledge by handing out information and answering questions at health fairs, community events and specialty events, such as Fit for the Cure. *Must attend Komen 101 training*

Speaker’s Bureau Ambassador-Survivor/Thriver Storytelling
Breast health education can be lifesaving. Help make an impact by sharing personal survival stories and making presentations to community groups, organizations and corporations. Public speaking and expertise in health-related fields preferred. Must attend additional Komen 102 Training.

Key2Life
Volunteers will engage audience with breast health information while attendees create educational keychains teaching the importance of breast exams. Beads correlate to the size lump that could be detected with different types of breast exams and technology. *Must attend Komen 101 training*

Komen Community Programs

Peer Grant Reviewer
Be a crucial part of our granting process by reviewing grant applications. Expertise in health, social service or non- profit related fields, or survivors/co-survivors, preferred. Reviews about 6-8 applications. From November— January with at least 2 required trainings.

Survivor/Thriver Story Teller Bank
For the creative writers! Interview survivors/thrivers and re-tell their brave stories by writing articles which we will share and celebrate throughout the year through our communications and events. 

Event Planning Committees

Race for the Cure Committee
Help us plan our largest event of the year! Thousands of runners and walkers lace up at Montrose Harbor each Mother’s Day to get us one step closer to a world without breast cancer. This fun, lively event is perfect for families and groups interested in volunteering together!

Gala Committee
Be part of planning our signature event in October! This formal event raises vital funds to even the playing field for those women in our community who do not have the resources and access to optimal treatment. Each year we choose a theme and host a silent and live auction, provide entertainment, and invite celebrity guests to be a part of the event.

Metastatic Breast Cancer Conference Committee
Each spring, Komen Chicago hosts a 2 day conference centered on Metastatic Breast Cancer. Get involved with this unique educational event in downtown Chicago. This is an especially important event for anyone who may be interested in hearing from top oncologists and experts in the field.

Special Events – Event Preparations
Putting on a successful event requires hours of preparation and manpower. Assist with activities like mailing, stuffing gift bags, set-up, packing etc.Please email volunteer@komenchicago.org with inquiries on how to get involved!
